Why is there so much hate for this film? I enjoyed it.

I actually like it. I've seen it a couple of times on cable. I know it's characters aren't perfect, it's a bit cliched. But it makes me feel good. Maybe it's the music or the general concept of the film. Whatever it is, it's a good nostalgic time.

Because so much has occurred between it's release and now. Some scenes that were dubious, but easier to dismiss when first seen have now taken on a very sinister outlook after operation yewtree and connected stories.

Taken in isolation the film has many positives, but the shadow of real life can quickly leave you feeling uneasy.
