Jackie Earle Haley

Four pages of threads and none dedicated to one of Hollywood's best character actors. Man, that is downright rude. This film aficionado became aware of Jackie's work in one of the best films of the 70's, which of course is totally underappreciated by the Xers and Millenials that seem to cast the most votes on this site. As Kelly Leak, he stood out even when playing against the ever-so-talented Walter Matthau and at that time, America's sweetheart Tatum O'Neill. The film also features scenes of Jackie with the late, great Vic Morrow ("Combat", "Twilight Zone: The Movie", and "Glass House") playing a character against type. It should be rated in the 8's, but then what do young Americans really know about film.

To see Jackie at his very best, view the once again pathetically low-rated "Little Children" with Kate Winslett and one of every red-blooded American male's would be on-screen lovers Jen Connelly ("The Hot Spot", "Mulholland Falls", "Dark City" and "Requiem For A Dream").

And who can forget Jackie as "Sugar Boy", Sean Penn's driver and bodyguard in the remake of Robert Penn Warren's Pulitzer Prize winning novel "All The King's Men". This is another picture the youngsters don't seem to get. This visitor to the site has seen complaints that Penn overacted. Please, Sean was playing Huey Long and he was BRILLIANT! Do Xers and Millenials even know anything about Huey Long, one of America's greatest, most flamboyant, exceptionally intelligent and self-educated, as well as one of the most popular politicians along with being one of the severest threats to the existing power structure to ever hold office. He was so popular that he may have beaten FDR for the Presidency. Of course he was assassinated, aren't all men of Peace that fight for the little guy in this country?

Ridge, You're absolutely right. I'm surprised that you didn't mention Rorschach from The Watchmen, though. I recently saw that, and was impressed by his character the most; the others I could do without.
