really?

I've enjoyed my fair share of indie films. I came on here to see when this came out, thinking late nineties. Then, when saw it was 2009 i scrolled down for the stats. It had a budget of 1 million dollars. What in gods name did they spend it on? This looked like it was filmed with a camera phone and 30k budget. wtf. not impressed. ugly girl with disgusting mouth wants to be kissed. She's eventually kissed. Horrible hot girl cheats on her boyfriend. strange russian girl is crushing on the gay kid. gay 16 year old rides off on a motorcycle with a man who is at least 40. seriously. wtf.

It's an OK movie, though a little cute. As for ugly girls thinking they deserve hot boyfriends, girls making their nice guys wait for sex while they are really waiting for a creep to bang, and gay boys dating old dudes--all that is completely realistic.

Had a completely different reaction - I love it and gave it a ten. Loved all the actors and actresses. Best movie I've seen in some time (probably since Moonrise Kingdom, and I have to say, I like this one more).

I agree with you Michael. It's been a long time since I've seen good dialogues in movies... maybe since John Hughes's movies. Plus this is not just about a 16 yr old girl wanting a first kiss. The movie has all kinds of characters with different relationships... friendship, mother-son, boss-workers, workers-customers, etc. The only thing I don't like about this movie is too many closed up shots of characters' faces. Very TV soaps camera work. It would be better scenes if Becky Smith panned the camera out so the audiences got to see two characters' reactions (acting). But overall, I still love it.

I won't criticize it as harshly as you did but I do thing it was rather mediocre and disappointing overall, I love these coming of age-small town movies but this was was weak to say the least.
