reply

yeah yeah coen brothers invented the wheel and thy first discovered america yadda yadda

coen brothers
coen brothers
coen brothers
coen brothers already did it. They created and masterminded that plot even before the real events happenned.

reply

I dig the Coen's, but nope. This wasn't Coen material. Nice try though.

Heart attack never stop ol' Big Bear!

The Coen brothers' black comedies are hit-or-miss with me; I really hated "Burn After Reading", but loved "A Serious Man". In my opinion, "The Informant!" worked. If it worked, why have someone else direct it?

reply

sorry i spelled coen wrong lol. yeah but the music just reminded me of it. I liked Burn After Reading,Fargo, but A Serious Man was boring and hadn't really picked up just my opinion respectively

reply

You hated 'Burn After Reading'?!

reply

Why is it ' Coen Material'? Because it's off-beat? Soderbergh developed the movie, so I'd say its his kind of material... as any genre can be. The Coen brothers have never made a movie inspired by real events (unless you count their viral marketing scheme of pretending Fargo was real).

All fiction is inspired by real events

reply

Yeah. This isn't Coen material unless they would have added several death scenes the mix. Great movie though.

reply

There was cinema before Cohen brothers. Please grow up and watch some films from the 30's/70's.

It had one thing in common with Coen movies: it was boring and pointless.

reply

Agreed. The low-key, dry sense of humor made it a lot like a Coen Brothers movie. Wouldn't say it was a rip-off though. More like a homage.

Happiness makes up in height, what it lacks in length.

reply

I thought Coens' while watching this film as well. Homage? agreed.

reply

Really because I've seen most of their flicks and this didn't feel like them at all... this was a lot more off beat but in a less pointed manner.
And this wasn't really a dark comedy it was more of like a slapstick comedy set to real things... the music set the tone as light and Damon did off the wall crap but the subject matter was serious.

Nothing like the Coen Brothers... sorry

reply

A homage to the Coen brothers?

Its just a dark off beat comedy. I think you are using the term homage quite loosely there

What you just read was probably a bit of a rant. Sorry

reply

Dry humor and dark humor existed long before the Coen brothers

"Tom! That's super secret!"

reply

And so did Midwestern/Middle American accents!
