Reading about Amelia would be much more entertaining

Because this film was truly dull. All it did was make me want to pop in Scorcese's The Aviator. When it comes to biopics or historical films, many times I wish I would've invested the time into just reading about the subject instead of watching a bland film version of it. First, the script and events are presented quickly and without impact. Earhart is important for her accomplishments in aviation which this film should've delved deeper into instead of her romantic life.

Second, the performances aren't very exciting either. Swank is okay, but sort of bland and that goes double for Richard Gere. I admit, I'm not a big fan of anyone in the film which didn't help things. Personally, handsome or not, I've never really understood the appeal of Gere. At the end of a film about Earhart you should have a good idea of why she had the passion she did and just how important, not to mention dangerous, her exploits were. This film was nice to look at, but all the excitement was in the finale. You can get much more insight from simply reading Earhart's wikipedia page.
