Thoughts

I found Agnès Varda's rumination about childhood interesting and that it was never a reference point quite startling. Was I surprised she was the middle child -? May be not. So glad she diverted into her brief friendship with Jim Morrison. Lots of sadness as people die, especially her beloved Demy. Doesn't Mathieu look like him! No comment on her casting her first love and Rosalie's father in Cleo from 5 to 7 even though the end of their affair seemed to hurt her. Agnès (better name than Arlette) loves people in a full way. Loved old photos and footage of her. Not a classic beauty but so beautiful nonetheless.

I enjoyed the way she visualises her 'self' as a series of beaches. My internal landscape would be a contrast between desert and ice floes.

A bird sings and the mountain's silence deepens.
