Should've pushed the car off the tracks with the fire engine
It only weighs like 40,000 pounds.
You know, I don't find this stuff amusing anymore...share

There was no way they could have cleared both the car and the fire truck by pushing it off the track. There simply wasn't enough time.
shareAlso, It probably would have crushed the car and the people in it.
shareDid anyone notice that the speed of the train changed many times during the scene as it passed the wrecked car? First slowed down, then speeded up, then slowed again, or something like that.
Working with a real train, coordinating filming must have been a devil dealing with continuity. But, Weird that the train engineer did not seem to attempt to slow or stop, even with the short visual period he had as it rounded a curve at rather slow speed before nearing the car wreck .
