Boy, just when you think.......

.....that "Made for Sci-Fi" movies couldn't get any worse, they lower the bar. TIVOCD had as much historical accuracy as Jason and the Argonauts and the massive amount of CGI would have been at home in a late 90's PC game, but just looked cheap in 2009. Script was shoddy, acting hammy. AP's always been a bit of a male model turned actor, but sadly this shows that for Temuera Morrison "Once Were Warriors" was a very very long time ago.

Yes, I just saw it tv...and I must agree with everything you said.

The weirdest part is the father-daughter relationship...*Talk about weird*

Wow, I didn't even notice your points. I was in too deep a stupor after they started solving problems with geometry. Who knew pirates were so good at math?

reply

You had to be pretty proficient at math to navigate at sea in the 16th century, actually. And I am not really comfortable criticizing a Sci-Fi Original for its lack of historical accuracy, anyway....sort of like criticizing the Pope for being overly religious.

reply

I agree. I went into it not expecting much and found a rather enjoyable B-movie.

The villains were villainous, the rouges were rouge-ish. :)
The CGI was nothing exceptional, but considering how over the top everything is, its ALL fantastical.

Reminded me a lot of the old Sinbad movies.

Definitely fun camp.

Sometimes movies are just made to have fun, and be cliches (with a few amusing twists, along the way).

About the only thing I fast-forwarded through were some of the atrociously shot sword fighting scenes.

I would assume after so many years on Highlander that AP can actually "fake it" with a sword rather well if given the chance, so I can only guess that either whoever he was fighting couldn't, or the cinematographer should walk the plank (lots of abrupt cuts to different angles which broke the continuous flow you usually get in a "good" sword fight scene)

"Reminded me a lot of the old Sinbad movies."

Indeed - it's any of the old Sindbad movies mad with a budget of about £15 and realy rubbish cgi, as has been mentioned elsewhere. The only reasonto watch this is the shot of Yana Marinova's bum.

reply

Absolutely abysmal.

Horrible 'arcade game' type computer graphics, acting that wouldn't pass muster in an amateur theatrical play, and a script that could have been more erudite if typed by a trained baboon.

A total waste of money from end to end.

It had all the"truth" of Bible stories. Rubbish.

What is the sound an imploding pimp makes?
