I can't stand seeing people being controlled by the government

Watching the smug pigs bullying people in jail really turns my stomach. Cops in jail are always power tripping. It's disgusting. They are more aggravating than the drunks they process.

"""Its good until it happens to them """

===================================

I'm open to differing opinions on police and policework, but this notion of yours truly perplexes me.

You seem to think my attiude (pro-cop) would radically chage if I (and those with my belief) received a good clobbering by an inept, bullying cop.

The possibility doesn't bother me in the least. I don't think it'll ever happen - I'm a good, law abiding citizen. NO drugs, no B&E, no murders, no rapes, no cruelty to animals, no child abuse, no DUIs, no D&Ds, no bar fights to my name.

The only black marks on my name are on my driving record. I've sped a few times, and got pulled over for them. I've also been breathalized a few times (all negative) and aced a field sobriety testq.

In each instance I've treated the cops with respect. I call the cops sir/ma'am, don't cuss them out, don't call them facist pigs, and generally make their lives as easy as possible.

And guess what? The cops were always OK to me. One in VA even declined to give me a ticket for a bad left (which I probably should have gotten) after I passed their field test. No beatings. No yellings. No swearing. No batons or tasers or handcuffs.

A rough time with the cops isn't something that just happens and is out of anyone's controll. We're not talking about a disease or a natural disaster. The reason why so many people (like me) don't have much sympathy for the guest stars in Jail and Cops is because generally assume that these people DID something to draw the cops interest.

Follow the law, treat the cops like human beings, and it WON'T happen to you.

\\\\\\\\\\\\
... you may be in a position where you are targeted by law enforcement for having a difference of opinion.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Again, it’s hard to take this notion seriously, at least nowadays. We’ve come a long way since the ‘60s. I suspect you’re referring to when police confront activists and marchers and the like. Are people targeted simply for having a difference of opinion? Or for having a differing opinion, conjoined with some offense like disorderly conduct, public drunkenness or trespassing? Cops can’t take action against someone for what they believe, but do need to keep things under control during protests.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
… BUT that doesn't I subscribe to people trying to control others with force.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Sounds a lot like you’re trying to take the “force” out of law en-“force”-ment. Laws must be enforced. If they’re not enforced, then they’re not laws – they’re effectively suggestions. Any civilization would descend into anarchy if the laws had no more coercive power then an advice column in the newspaper. Suspected lawbreakers are not given the option of deciding weather or not they’ll face trial and judgment. They’re controlled and placed under arrest. If they try to flee, they are pursued. If they try to resist, they are subdued.

///////////////
I'm sure you like cameras everywhere, because you don't do anything "wrong." hey, why not put a camera in your house too, if you are not doing anything wrong.
/////////////////////////

Not at all. I like my right to privacy as much as the next one, and don’t believe that the government has a right to cameras in my house. I just don’t think that my right to privacy extends to every place I go. I have no problem with cameras on public streets, especially high crime areas. What’s so private about being out in public?

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
There is something wrong when you have 20 cps dressed in black military outfits banging down houses covering faces and you and some others seem okay with it. You have, my friend, been desensitized but you don't know it.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

It depends on who and what those 20 cops are going after. If it were a jaywalker or a shoplifter, then yeah, I’d say that’s a little much. If they’re chasing down an escaped serial rapist, cop killer, or are raiding a meth lab that could fry half the block when it burns down, then I say bring on the SWAT team. I’m more then OK with it- I encourage it.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
And I am quite convinced that you would change your attitude over time if certain things happen to you.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

I still can’t think of any alignment of the planets, or sequence of events that could bring this around. Perhaps If I was pulled over by a totally out of control cop who roughed me up, or sexually attacked my girlfriend. Maybe if I was framed for something by dirty cops.

But I think we’ll agree that these are extreme cases. I don’t foresee anything of the like happening to me.

F6Pilot, is either NOT from or in the USA, or just completely insane!

A common person, should NOT have to "suck up" to a cop to avoid being arrested. The "yes officer no officer" is utter BS.

A cop has the "officer of the court" title, so no matter how many lies he/she tells it is believed as fact in the USA courts unless you have video. and what common person is going to have a video recorder on them 24-7 ?

Cameras in high crime areas is a good idea until the police use it to spy into any random home. If the cameras are in your residential area, to "Make Sure" no camera can see inside your home, you must keep heavy drapes closed at all times. A camera itself doesnt know not to zoom into a window of a private residence, you would have to "trust" the officer of the court not to invade your home without a warrant.

I never said he should suck up. Saying "yes sir / no sir" is politeness, not sucking up. It's great way to be friendly to secretaries, phone operators, waiters -- pretty much everyone in the business world. I treat police the same way. Or are you one of those people who think that acting beligerant and rude are the quickest and best ways to get respect?

You don't have to suck up -- or even be all that polite -- to avoid getting arrested. You just need to avoid committing crimes.

Cops are usually believed because they're normally more trustworthy then the losers they end up placing in handcuffs, especially the types who have been drunk or high since puberty, and have a long string of arrests to their names. So yeah, if you say a cop is lying, I'm going to want to see video.

Obviously, you or someone you know is a cop, Or you’re in a rural area with minimal cops.... A cop LIES, I wouldn’t believe one if his or her tongue was notarized.
.

.
There is a HUGE difference between being polite and having to be on your knees. Cops in "the big ol city" are NOT to be trusted ever. They are only looking out for themselves, (Their numbers of Arrests, DUI’s, and Drugs taken off the street and placed in the nearest located cops home) and their buddies (other cops)....) they by definition, are a gang.
.
< You don't have to suck up -- or even be all that polite -- to avoid getting arrested. You just need to avoid committing crimes>
.
I have never been arrested EVER; I have had enough contact with them, in the hospital (I worked in a hospital before retirement via disability) and other communications. They do NOT have a working brain; a cop could NOT comprehend, that if a mailbox is 100% empty, NOTHING could be stolen from it...... MANY cops here are that dumb. You file a complaint; you just put a bull’s eye on your back.
.

.
I never said 100% of the people they arrest are innocent, I said that in order to avoid getting screwed with, the first thing u have to do, is get on your knees and don’t use teeth.
.
I also mentioned before the average citizen does not have a camera on themselves 24-7, it would be too expensive.
.
I will give you a scenario with 3 outcomes.
.
A man is driving home from work, NOT drunk, NOT driving recklessly, and minding his own business; the cop is trying to get the normal ego boost as they need it like oxygen. The car stops at a 4 way intersection. The car then proceeds as there are no other cars. The cop, being bored with no recent ego boost, decides that the "Stop and /or pause" was not long enough, and since the cop has nothing other to do he lights up.
.
With what happened, the cop has 3 choices: Warning, Ticket, and Arrest.
.
Scenario #1 the driver has had a long day at work and is dead tired and wants to go home. He “gets on his knees “immediately, so he can go home to bed. He does the normal, “I respect cops” and “yes sir no sir,” “do you need more suction? “ The cop has gotten his ego boost and gives the driver a warning. (This is very rare, not matter how “nice” you were)
.
Scenario # 2 the driver has had a rotten day at work, and is stressed out. All he wants is to go home and crash yet he is frustrated that this “cop” pulled him over for NOTHING (the driver is correct) the cop does not get the ego boost by the comments in scenario #1. The cop is mad; he didn’t get the ego boost and figures he can get it by issuing a ticket. He does issue a ticket and now the drivers HARD EARNED money is being stolen, and if he doesn’t pay, his car insurance rates skyrocket. This is even MORE money being stolen from him simply by not getting on his knees.
.
Scenario # 3 the driver is frustrated irritated and just wants to get some sleep, he just worked the shift from hell. He is TOO DAMN TIRED to get on them knees, he is blunt and to the point. He has just unleashed the beast in the cop; the cop has been disrespected by not being held on a marble and gold pedestal. The cop makes the driver get out of his car, the suspect is so damn tired he doesn’t move fast enough for the cop. The cop asks the same questions over again, the suspect states everything again blunt and to the point, he only wants to go home and sleep. The cop calls this aggressive and calls for back up. He tells back up that he was resisting arrest (by not jumping out of the car fast enough) and since he didn’t get on them knees, all the backup treats the suspect like crap (as usual) Now during the time the handcuffs are being placed onto the suspect, the officer “Claims” that the suspect touched the cop, the suspect is now charged with assault of a cop, in addition to resisting arrest, and failure to stop at a stop sign, and reckless driving and so on….
.
Remember at the beginning the DRIVER did stop correctly and DID nothing wrong other than getting on his knees in scenario 2 & 3….. Scenario 2 steals his money. Scenario 3- steals his money and leaves him with a record. FOR not kissing butt.
.
IF you have the delusions that scenario 2-3 CAN’T happen. I suggest MOVING to a larger city.
.
I do think that it SHOULD be as you describe, be polite, and that should be ok. However, it is NOT.
.
Right now I’m listening to the TV cops just came on. A car is pulled over; the cop TAKES the car for something the PASSENGER did. She, the driver, owner of the car, is told that he the cop was being nice as he COULD charge her with a list of crimes. So if she doesn’t shut up and allow the cop to STEAL the car, she would be arrested. He then said “If you’re lucky, you will be walking home tonight” …..
.
The last thing I would have you think about, IF for example a ER Nurse, doesn’t like how a patient is behaving, there is NO method to extort money or property from the patient, to get the patient into check. An ER nurse, has REAL LONG TERM things to deal with, if the nurse is accidentally stuck by a needle, and becomes infected with HIV (I pray it never happens, but i know it does) No one goes around stating the nurse “Died in the line of Duty” Hell, If a ER nurse is shot by a gun in the ER by a patient, NO ONE goes around, saying the nurse died in the line of duty either. And no shotgun funeral either. And if u have the guts to claim cops deal with more crap than a ER nurse Report to the nearest county hospital and volunteer to shadow a ER Nurse, you will be dealing with more crap than you bargained for.
.
IMO Cops have way too much ego, and too much POWER to screw up someone’s life simply because the person did not get on their knees.

I just finished watching a few episodes of this show on spike. These are so called police officers or the equivalent. Does the police department have weight standards? How about physical fitness tests? I have rarely seen a physically fit correctional officer. Just a bunch of fatasses with ego problems. How about these guys get in some shape so they aren't out of breath from jogging down the hall for 20 feet.

reply

dude i agree with u ! It is funny how it takes 6-8 cops to bring down 1 inmate, then they are all excited how they handled the inmate.... Funny 6-8 cops to 1 person,,,,,

You seem unhappy.
I like that.

Like I said, there's a reason why cops are trusted and believed by law abiding citizens more then the people complainging about cops are. Most law-abiders don't have any real " abusive *beep* cop" stories like the one you described.

In all your scenarios you assume that the driver didn't do anything wrong and that the cop always needs the ego boost "like oxygen". Most of the residents of our finer jails and correctional facilites no doubt have the same presumptions.

Im Happy, I just think ur a *beep* to believe all cops are great... U should move here, once you get a taste of our police you would be running back to the "perfect cops" are, that you claim exists.

In the scenerios I gave, if 1000 "law abiding citizens" watching, and all three scenerios, the driver is correct, those things can and do happen here. The entire point was to show or explain how, you better kiss ass or your going to get *beep*

You want to talk to a dirty cop? call any police station, it doesnt matter who answers the phone.

reply

Really you can think that; however, because the way the cops do their jobs, even if you think it is against our Constitution, you would still be arrested.

I, for one, WOULD be nice to cops and I would try to make the most logical sense in how I could get out of the cop's line of vision, after suspected, by being honest.

You can be the self-righteous, using your rights like search warrants, "I have the rights, this and that"; however, you are only delaying yourself from being further arrested on other charges that pop up.

Yes, the Constitution does give you rights; however, would you use that knowing that you would still be arrested by the cops just because you delayed rather than confessed up? If you have nothing to confess, you should be able to get away scott free.

Better watch out, better start crying. Better hurry up, run and hide. Krampus is coming to town! >:)

reply

The cops in my area screws with people just to do it. OBEY the law does NOT garrantee that the cop will leave u alone, and not pull you over. then you must kiss ass not to get a ticket.
