Weird question: Are there any BOOKS similar to this film?

Most of Sono's films have a literature-like narrative quality, this one being the most like a book. I was wondering if anyone knew of any books that had similar tones/themes to his films. I guess I mean contemporary and kind of *beep* insane. I have read a little Ryu Murakami, and some of them come close (especially Popular Hits of the Showa Era)
