What Happened after the final scene

The Frank family was taken to a prison, and then later-on a deathcamp.

The father was separated from the women, and Anne presumed he had been gassed due to his age (over 50). Anne herself was almost gassed due to all 14 year olds and younger children being eliminated by the Nazis, but Anne had just turned 15 so she was "spared" from the gas chamber.

The mother willfully starved herself, in order to keep her daughters well fed with extra food. So contrary to the diary, the mother was actually a kind-hearted person. ----- Anne and her sister Margot survived until circa March 1945. Margot became deathly ill from typhus and then rolled-out of her bed. The impact of the fall killed her.

Anne, believing her entire family was dead, passed-away a few days later.

The Allies freed the camp just one month later. In her diary Anne said she believed humans were naturally good, but I suspect if she had survived, she would have crossed-out that passage, based upon the horrors she witnessed in the deathcamps.

there is a good book by Melissa Mueller about Anne Frank. Its been a while but I recall that the Nazis were pissed about Jews who hid from them. after being arrested, i think they had certain punishments just for those jews(as opposed to the ones who reported to call up notices).

Farewell, and may the blessing of Elves and Men and all Free Folk go with you.

I agree. I wondered that as I watched her write it.
