I received an email from tvshowsondvd.com, and they had this information to share, it made my day, this is a great show, I hope there will be a second season and beyond that. Here the url if you want to read it for yourself:

So the 1st six episodes were considered the pilot and this series is considered the 1st then?

Yeah, the one you are thinking of was a mini-series, this past one was a complete season of episodes.
