What is the difference between the 2 shows?

ive never seen it but want to buy it, but why are ther 2 dvds?

if i get the newer one, the tv series, will it make sense without the other or do you need to see the previous one before?

do they follow each other or are they the same thing?

The first one you kinda need to see because it sets up season 2.

You need to watch the 2007 mini series before the 2008 TV series. The TV series is a continuation of the story.
