It would have worked better as a TV Show...

The story didn't feel complete to me. It seemed like it would have made a better
TV Show lol. I liked the movie, but it needed a bit more substance to me.

I loved the movie but I don't think it would have lasted more than 12 30-minute episodes before getting cancelled (because you know they wouldn't have had names like McAdams, Ford, Keaton, or Goldblum).

I loved it as a movie, but did want even more... so I think a TV show would've been awesome... but like the other poster said, it would be next to impossible to snag such big stars as they did for the film... though that doesn't automatically mean it would get cancelled, but it also depends on when the network would slot the show... primetime TV is competitive as it is, but for a new show, it's even worse to have to go up against other shows that have dominated a certain night for years...

We already have Studio 60 At The Sunset Strip, which was great.

The best we could hope for if this was a series was something like that but set at a morning show rather than something like SNL.

And there's not enough here to sustain a series.

Wow! I totally agree with csmovieman-1.. I liked the movie too, it wasn't awful but yes there should be more to it :)
I also think it really would've been great if it was a TV show! I would love to see how it works in a television network! Especially with Rachel McAdams that makes Becky a unique, interesting and lovable character! And if it was a TV show, perhaps they should find more affordable casts, but don't replace Rachel :P

That thought popped into my head as soon as the movie ended. No, a TV show would never have the same cast, of course, but the whole premise of the film would definitely work as a TV show. Perhaps in the vein of "30 Rock."

Actually a TV show did come out a few years ago called Back to You (Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton) that was a bit like this film. Of course it was a lot cornier but the tv anchor plot was similar. To me, this kind of situation is a bit tired. While I thought this movie was okay, I don't think the story or the characters are really appealing enough for TV.

I totally agree it would be great as a TV series and it still could be. After all, MASH was both a successful film and a successful TV show.

I think it would best as a dramedy, along the lines of Sports Night.
