Ending (SPOILERS)

Damn this was disappointing...

It hit all the right notes in the first few minutes with the body parts on the beach and then the guy hiding under the bed but in the end it was too clever for its own good.

Apparently this was originally supposed to be two 90 minute episodes and it might have made more sense if they had done it that way.

Things started looking bad for feisty but likeable cop Jude after she stormed out of an argument with Costello but then her demise was shoehorned into about 10 seconds at the end - Turns up at crime scene, cracked over the head and presumably raped and killed by Bovery and her body hidden before they turn up later - no motive, just opportunistic. When the credits rolled I expected there to be a 2 parter.

And was the killer trying to achieve again? After striking some early CSI notes and then the Se7en style head in the box, I sort of lost the point of what this guy was trying to do and also how a squaddie was suddenly able to outfox an entire "crack" police unit.

It seemed like a waste of a good cast.
