i dont understand why anyone is expected to be excited for this

all ive ever seen past few months (since the pandemic really) are film sites (some of them really big ones) posting about Scream 5 on FB/Twit - 'OMG there are actually doing Scream 5!'.. 'OMG Neve Campbell is returning to Scream this is so crazy!!'

its like everyone's forgotten there was a Scream 'legacy sequel' with all the original cast not that long ago and it bombed and made zero impact..(and that even had Craven directing).. hell there was even a failed TV series after that I think

there couldnt be a less anticipated movie than Scream 5... be like if social media went fake nuts over another Terminator.. - 'OMG they doing T7! and OMG Linda Hamiltons returning! and Arnie is back! this is insane!'

i could understand it if there had been no Scream 4 in 2011 so this would be the first belated sequel since Scream 3 in 2000... or if Scream 5 had been announced as a crossover with Nightmare on Elm St - Freddy vs Scream! ..but just another Scream? its like so what? why is anyone even bothering to try make this a thing on SM? its really strange.

Scream 4 was actually awesome and a huge improvement over the horribly mediocre 3rd installment.

Agreed. Scream 4 doesn’t nearly get enough credit. I rate the series 1, 4, 2, 3.

I get what you mean. It's a pretty meh franchise to begin with. The first one was solid. The rest I didn't take to.

This one I just don't give a damn about and don't see what people are hyped about. It's the same ole, same ole. Tired formula like the Terminator movies.

The only thing I can think of is its because Halloween 2018 was such a big hit and that made the makers of Scream (who I think might even be partly Blumhouse as well now) start the process of a 5th film. So its abit similar to how Halloween H20 came about because of the success of Scream 1/2 (which were both owned by Miramax/Weinstein at the time)

The guys directing it did this movie called Ready or Not that I really liked so that’s what makes me excited for it.

well i guess most would know it was a trilogy late 90s/2000... but i doubt that many know there was a Scream 4 (similar to Superman IV) maybe thats why SM was getting so excited

Hardcore fans of the series are happy with as many sequels as you can give them. Same was true of Friday The 13th, Nightmare On Elm Street, Halloween, etc. back in their day.
