Video Game?
Is this really a movie based on the Nintendo game?

I don't think it is. Wasn't the game just a bunch of competitions? I don't recall the game having a story.

The first Skate Or Die Nintendo game was indeed just a bunch of various skateboarding games. Other than the Joust, I found it to be quite dull. However, Skate Or Die 2 DID have a plot, or at least each level did. In the first level, a skateboarder accidentally runs over and kills the dog owned by the mayor's wife. She then heckles her husband to have skateboarding banned. You have to go around the streets, collecting items and ultimately battle the mayor's wife! Somehow, killing her must lift the ban!
The second level has you skating around a shopping mall, delivering errands to raise money. I forget the next two levels, but the last one has you fighting off a rival skateboarding gang, who have kidnapped your girlfriend. I rented this game and never did save her. :(
