Opened To An Empty Theater?

I've only recently stumbled upon the story where the director, producer and lead actor showed up to the 'grand opening' of 'Sauna' in a small Finnish town and not one person showed up!
Initially I was felling really sorry for these guys and one of the best movies I've seen last year, but it really got me wondering what country are 'Sauna' fans from? Maybe this was just a random city in Finland and it meant nothing to the general reception of this movie in the country, but I would like to see where are people who really liked the movie from?

I don't mean to break the serbian chain or anything, but I'm brazilian and my mind is still numb from watching this, especially because I've lived in finland and therefore expected (poor simple minded me) to "get it" simply for that

I'm Norwegian, and I'm glad to see that there are still very good nordic movies out there.

I think this "horror"-movie is too much to swallow for the easy-going cinemagoer though, this is more a movie for those that really loves watching movies that expects something from the viewer, and doesnt just try to entertain.

OP, check the population of Finland, and you might get your answer. It's an arthouse film. Not a crowd pleaser.

I saw one of the early (if not the first?) screenings of the movie in Helsinki with press and the director present. The theater was quite packed. Almost full.
