Comparisons with Gaza

When a bloodied Dr Wilson complains to the committee of dead children with various gruesome wounds caused by Japanese bombing, I was reminded of the bloodied Scandinavian doctor stating on TV the same when the Israelis did the same to the Palastinians last year.

The Japanese denial propaganda . blaming the Chinese, reminded me of Israel's own Goebells, Mark Regev spouting the same such lies on British TV , night after night, and being taken apart by the smarter British journalists. I know he is really a nice Jewish boy but was only obeying orders ... Plus ca change ...

A poor comparison.I don't recall Chinese "terrorists" lobbing rockets into imperial Japan. The Japanese invasion was pure imperialism to enslave an entire weaker nation.Israel is fighting for its very existence against a group of terrorists devoted to Israel's destruction who then hide amongst their own civilians.

The South African apartheid regime used the same argument as the Israelis about fighting for their existence surrounded by hostile undemocratic states and terrorists like Nelson Mandela dedicated to their racial extermination ...
The South Africa apartheid regime is analogous to Israel...and look what happened ....White colonists claiming mythical homelands and what the Nazis called lebenstraum, can't really survive long on the lands of others

Again,a poor analogy.Had the Palestinians a leader of the caliber of Nelson Mandela a satisfactory solution for the peaceful coexistence of the two peoples
would be in effect. At present there is some semblance of peaceful coexistence between blacks and whites in South Africa, and one can only hope that the situation doesn't deteriorate into another Zimbabwe.Comparing Israelis to "white
colonists" makes no sense.First,a minority but significant number of Israelis are Arabs of Muslim and Christian beliefs.Of the Israeli Jews, there is a multitude of different backgrounds, including those whose families always resided there, those who came from other Muslim countries and were forced to leave, and of course those immigrating from Europe as a result of WW2.There are a large number of Ethiopian Jews as well as Jews from Western nations, etc.Zionism is simply the desire of Jews to be able to live freely in their ancient homeland which is hardly mythical. It is not an expansionist or imperialistic doctrine. Finally, comparing Hitler's "lebensraum" to Zionism is like comparing Mein Kampf to Theodore Herzl's der Judenstadt.Read both books, and you'll see the difference.

I didn't know about John Rabe,Dr.Robert Wilson, etc.,but was again introduced to the atrocities of the Japanese army against defenseless Chinese citizens-a horror of man's inhumanity to man akin to the Nazi Holocaust, the massacre of Armenians by the Turks, the Rwandan massacres, etc.Yet when I lived in Japan in the 1950's one could not find a more resourceful, honest and compassionate group of people-the same whose military performed such a dastardly deed. There is probably within all humans a tiny spark of evil that unfortunately can be ignited by a vast number of stimuli. We have yet to evolve.

Have a bit more understanding of the Israelis. They can be reasonable if dealing with reasonable people.

I wholeheartedly agree with boneman4. Not only did triumph-tsx make a poor comparison, but Gaza is not comparable to Nanking at all. The Chinese never fired rockets indiscriminately into Japan. They didn't chant "death to Japan" the way the Palestinians chant "death to Israel". They didn't commit acts of terrorism like suicide bombings against civilians. They didn't kidnap Japanese soldiers and ransom them in exchange for dozens of prisoners. Last but not least, they fought the Japanese as an army, not as terrorists or militants.

Regarding the South African apartheid regime, boneman4 is spot on in his second post.

after all, nothing protects Israel from being wiped out by some guy's rockets quite like bulldozing some other guy's house and cutting down yet another guy's orchard

While the Gaza Massacre (and I prefer this appelation over "Gaza War", as it's more accurate) does come to mind whenever I see the inane slaughter of unarmed civilians, you must realize that only 14,000 or so died in Gaza while over 250,000 died in Nanking. Disproportionality is off the charts if you draw a comparison.

Moreover, the Japanese invaded soveriegn land and fought the entire Chinese Nationalist Army while Israel just fought bands of unorganized, under-equipped rebels.

Very different, yet comparable in some respects.

Palestine is considered a sovereign land by all the world's nations (including Israel, though they don't say so much), and the Palestinian government is recognized as a state by many. Gaza is under the jurisdiction of that state.

Spare us your anti-Semitic childish ramblings. Arab children in Gaza - there's NO "Palestine" it's a Latin NOT Arabic word- are taught to praise Hitler, and become sucide bombers to kill as many Jews, Americans, Britons, Christians, etc as possible so I find it very sick of you to claim Israel is 'Joesph Goebells". Btw, your "Heroic" ( not sure how using children, women and the eldery as Human shield is 'Heoric") Fakestinians celebrated the 7/7/05 bombing in London by burning the Union Jack.
