The racism makes no sense (possible spoilers)

So Juice was forbidden to reveal his father was black because he feared the club would kick him out? Even then why is Samcro racist against blacks? I forgot the name of one of the bike members who appears now and then as it is obvious he is mixed race of other genes so they are fine with that but reject if you are mixed with black genes from becoming a member?

Not to mention this being a show beginning in the mid 2000s is pathetic to even do this race issue conflict.

Yeah, agreed, it was actually one of the more annoying plot points because we didn’t have any backstory of a recent racist history with the Sons. I mean can you picture Jax, Trager, and Chibbs voting out Juice because of race? It wouldn’t have happened.

Perhaps there was something decades ago, during the First 9 that Juice had heard about and was afraid of, or maybe it’s in their charter or something, no idea. The worst part is that this plot point causes so many terrible things to happen for the rest of the series.

Phew! I saw the "....makes no sense" in the thread title, and dreaded this would be yet another lengthy avortac4 diatribe!😱

But anyway to the question at hand: Chibs & Jax explained that it really wasn't a formal rule, more like an unwritten bylaw when the club first formed that was "of its time" that none of the individual charters were really bound by. They eventually did (in the final season) patch in a black guy from a black motorcycle club (The Grim Bastards) that they regularly worked & partnered with. They also sold guns to a black street gang, so I wouldn't nessecarily say they were "racist".

"gang mentality" is essentially racist - look what happens in prison , which is a reflection of the street gangs.
they dont seem to have diversity quotes

It should also be noted that the Black MC Grim Bastards didn't have any White members (only Black), & the Mayans MC didn't have any either (Only Latino)..

And yet Samcro has Latinos so you the racism in this show still makes no sense if they allow mixed race Latinos yet then reject a mixed black person.

If you're talking about Theo- the president of The Grim Bastards black MC, he was eventually patched into SAMCRO. The only other one I can think of that you may be referring to is the President of their Tucson charter, who was Latino.

Rather than the "racist" label, which all too often gets directed at white peoples (supposed) additude towards non-whites, the more appropriate word is "prejudice". And as my father always used to say, whether or not we want to admit it, we're ALL "prejudiced" to one degree or another. It's borne out of life experiences, plain & simple.
