How old was Jax when John Teller died

So Jax really seems to "discover" his Dad by reading his journals. On a certain level I'm sure that's true -- however, wouldn't Jax have remembered his Dad and knew him as a young kid? He never references (that I can remember) his Dad except through what he read in the journals. I'm thinking Jax might have been about 8 or 10 when John died. Does anyone remember Jax talking about his Dad taking him riding, fishing, etc?

I think they mention somewhere that Jax was 15. The reason why he didn't really know his dad, is that JT was neglecting his family while cheating on Gemma with Maureen

early teens.

I always was curious about that too. What I was more curious about was why he didn't mention his little brother more? Even if he was too little or whatever the case may be, you'd think he'd drop his name at least once.

The only time I remember Jax saying something about Thomas is when he told Gemma something to the effect that even though he was sad when Thomas died, he knew he (Jax) would get Gemma all to himself. That's sort of telling. Jax was always a mama's boy.

Wasn't there a scene or two where Jax visits his brother's grave?

reply

No matter how old he was, its likely that John Teller never discussed the stuff he was putting in his journals with Jax. The journals were the first time that Jax really got to see what Teller was thinking.

reply

He was 13, Jax was born from 1980 and his dad died in 1993.

reply

Agreed. It doesn't show any recollections of his with his father. Also his father was born 1940, so he told be 40 when Jax was born. And Gemma met and was pregnant with Thomas at 18/19? So JT was twice Gemma's age?
