Gemma should've died in the early seasons.

She completely ruined the show with her irrational hypocritical spontaneous egotistical way of thinking. What an obnoxious character. I simply could not enjoy, an otherwise excellent show, because of her scenes and her constant *beep* ups and cover ups.
Clay should've caved her head in when he gave her that beating.

reply

I think Clay should have died much earlier in the series. They dragged his character out for so long and have so many cheesy reasons for Jax to not kill him. Jax was killing people left and right for no reason at all. It didnt make much sense for him to keep Clay around, someone who had hurt him more than most of the others combined.

reply

Clay was starting to bug me as well, but he redeemed himself in the end and died a "good" death.
Gemma just bugged me all along, and imo. the only reason for her to play such a big part (waay too big a part) in the show was good old fashioned nepotism, considering Katey Sagal being Kurt Sutters wife.

reply

I just started watching the show. I thought, "Hey...check it out Katey Sagal is really rockin' this show." Then someone told she was married to the creator of the show and then I thought..."Oh...well that's why she got such a huge and central role." At least she got a chance to shine...but let's face it...she wouldn't have got that part if it hadn't been for her husband controlling the show.

I agree 100%. I liked the character at first, but he overstayed his welcome. HE should have die in season 3 so we could have had Jaxx as President for longer.

reply

I guess you can't really have a show without the central characters. In my opinion, they should have kept Opie for longer.

reply

I get that, but Gemma seemed forced into a central role in the show. The show would have been much better without her constant interfering in everything. Granted, It would have taken a totally different direction, but a direction that would focus more on the MC's dealings and Jax' demons, rather than Gemmas tantrums.

reply

She made me crazy. "You cant can't take my boys to Oregon".

They're not yours. And if she cared that much, visit every week or fncking move with them and get a place near by. She would rather them be in danger than out of her grasp where she can't control them. I did like her character more the second time i watched the show. But around s5 i began to dislike her again.

reply

Exactly, her logics made absolutely no sense.

reply

Her livelihood largely depended of Jax being the president. If he left, her comfortable lifestyle would have been over.

reply

That's also true. Plus she was reigning Queen B of rinky dink Charming. People knew her, or knew OF her, and everybody knew to respect her because of the Club. She would be a nobody in another town.

It makes the ending so hard because they ALL die. All 3 of them. For no reason.

reply

Not at all. Every club member loved Gemma as their own mother (beats me why). Not one of them would let anything happen to her had Clay stepped down/ or died, and Jax moved on to a different life with Tara. Her problem was, being a psychotic lunatic who wanted to be in control of everyone and everything and not have the intelligence to handle it. And when her ideas turned to *beep* every time, she was too much of a coward to face the consequences herself and made even more *beep* decisions to whipe the blame off on others.

reply

Still her livelihood was precarious. Members did shun disgraced members' wives. With Clay expelled, and Jax gone, most likely nobody else would have cared much.

reply

Gemma was hardly just a disgraced members wife. Like her or not she was the matriarch of the MC, being the wife of two founding members and presidents, and later on mother to a president. She'd have known the most important figures like Bobby, Chibs and Tig since they were all teens/tweens or whenever the gang joined the club.

Besides that, her livelihood wasn't in danger at all. She would be the sole owner of Teller Morrow (and thereby still be involved with the MC), she'd also have her house and everything else Clay signed over to her when he planned to go to Ireland, furthermore she'd also have her dads estate. She was by no means dependent on Clay or Jax being presidents, not financially anyhow. Emotionally and mentally, that's a different story - and that's what's being discussed here, her mental state.

THIS! Exactly. Not because she knew what was "the best for everyone", but rather what she knew was the best for her selfish, spoiled, manipulative ass.

reply

When she said that line you cant take MY boys Oregon ... i wanted to pull her through the screen and smack her she pissed me off that much with her horrible controlling ways !! lol

reply

She was total poison for so many people.

reply

Not necessarily died in the early seasons because she was such an interesting character but she definitely could have been omitted a hell of a lot more. She was as special as she was because her husband helped create the club, she was married to the president and than later on was mother to the president.

reply

I agree, it seemed like her character was forced down our throats. It's almost like she was dating someone who makes those decisions.

reply

In real life, she's married to the creator of the show so it's no surprise she got to stay on the show for so long.

reply

I hated that b#tch!

reply

Couldn't agree more I started to ff episodes towards the end when it was all about her she sucked

reply

Exactly what i did as well .... could not stand her character any longer , was ruining the show to some extent !
