The statue of Sun Yat Sen being pulled down.

This scene is ridiculous, its not even historical accurate, it resembles the statue of Saddam in Iraq being pulled down. In what significance does this scene relates to the storyline? I think it is disgraceful for the director to compare a great man like Dr. Sun Yat Sen with a dictator like Saddam Hussein. I am surprised this scene was not censored in China.

But it is historical accurate (at least partially)! I remember seeing a photo of Japanese playing with a fallen statute of Sun Yat Sen, which was covered by a torn KMT flag.

It has nothing to do with Saddam, Lenin, or Chiang, all of whom I have seen video of statue being pulled down.

What an embarrassing post.

It's not comparing him to anyone. Invading armies of all times and nationalities humiliate the their enemies in effigy.

If they really wanted to make it look like Saddam, they'd have Chinese civilians gleefully tearing it down while Japanese soldiers watched and cheered. But THAT would be unrealistic.

Wow.

That's right, because time flows backward and everyone in 1937 was copying people 2003. What about that deleted scene where Sun Yat Sen invades Kuwait? Did that one bother you too?
