Not a great title

I don't know how many people will be able to remember the title and Google if they catch a trailer on TV.

Honestly, I agree. It just seems like too corny of a title for a movie. At least a wide-release movie. Is it supposed to be wide release, or is it going straight to DVD?

reply

How does it compare to Eagle Eye? Which I haven't seen yet.

reply

Well, Echelon Conspiracy hasn't come out yet, so it can't really be compared to Eagle Eye until it does. Eagle was pretty good though. Very fast-paced, exciting, and intense.

reply

I was thinking that very thing when i first saw it on facebook.
dont know if it will be any good, but the title turned me off right away

i screened this movie last night and i actually liked this more than Eagle Eye.

reply

I was there last night too!

It was good. I don't think I would've seen it in the theater, but I could see myself enjoying it on cable.

I think the main problem is that it's too late in its timing. I can tell it was made awhile ago and they wanted to try to get it out before Bush 2 left office (the prominent picture of him in Sheen's character office, the wiretapping and NSA meddling) and I think Eagle Eye beat them to the punch.

reply

Yeah I actually enjoyed this one when I saw it... I think (even with Bush being out of office) its still relevant until that whole patriotic act gets destroyed. There's no such thing as freedom anymore. This movie did a good job showing you one small aspect of the surveillance threat.

reply

Well, I think the title is okay because it's real. Just do a Wikipedia search for "echelon" if you've never heard about it.

Unlinke in the movie, it's not a single supercomputer, but a network of worldwide stations. However, I doubt it'll go skynet soon, but even if human-operated it still is a major threat only few know about, although its existence is public knowledge for years!

reply

agreed.

I actually thought they rather had guts to go for this title, I mean after all it's not something people dare to speak about (or how many news reports have you seen on major TV networks mentioning Echelon ?) !
