wow, this movie disappeared quick from the theaters
What dumb studio executive green-lighted this thing? should have been just a one hour history channel tv thingy, not a $50 million dollar movie

shareThere are plenty of intellectual movies still being made. They're called arthouse/independent films. They don't get wide theatrical releases but you can still find a place to watch it if you put forth some effort.
From a business perspective it was simply a big mistake to have made "Free State of Jones" a 50 million budgeted wide release. The market demand just isn't there to justify the budget.
Bad advertising or no advertising.
I never even knew this came to theaters. I would have gone and seen it.
Meanwhile, I've known for a full year about the Magnificent Seven remake and I'll be going to see that in a couple months.
Why didn't I ever hear about this movie?
Every movie is going to bomb if nobody knows it's playing.

People are tired of this narrative being shoved down our throats.
shareI was hoping to see it at the discount theater. I was just wondering why it never got there and came on here to see where it went. Must have bombed badly to disappear the way it did.
