Newt and Rachel's bedroom scene - Aaamazing

There was a touching scene after a town is taken over by the freedom fighters,
where Newt and Rachel walk hand in hand in a hotel hallway toward a room and
Newt says "I have something to show you". Newt opens the door and Rachel
walks in.

She looks around the room at the fine furnishings and then touches
the expensive bedspread on the bed. She then begins sobbing (because she
couldn't ever dream that such luxury would be at her disposal as she had been
sleeping in swamps and on floors all her life. ) Then she and Newt hug and the
scene fades.

I like the fact that the director stopped there and didn't go into a lurid nude sex scene that would have cheapened the moment. Do you agree or would you have liked to have seen the couple do more?

I thought the scene was very effective because you have to fill in the blanks for why Rachel's crying. Like everything that has ever happened to her suddenly hit her, not during a scene of crisis but one that should have shown the little peace they had in their lives.

Gugu was so good in this, also in the scene when she tells Newt about the beating, he gets infuriated and she tries to calm him down by reading from the Bible.

Such a good scene... You can feel the heartache and the disbelief that she never in her life thought she would be able to lie on a bed like that

That was a hotel? I thought that was the house where she had been enslaved. For a minute I thought they were going to have to pick another room because bad things had happened to her there.

But yes, I was also so happy that they did not make her undress for this role. Was a little worried when they showed her back bleeding through her dress, but thankfully they did not go there. Wonderful actress. I liked this movie quite a bit more than I thought I would.
