German movies are boring??? There are plenty of German films that are fantastic! Have you ever watched Downfall starring Bruno Ganz? Or the disturbing flick Das weiße Band about a village with some serious *%!?$@ malicious children torementing the village and the people. Try some Danish movies too, specifically The Hunt and Citron and Flame, and if you're a girl you might like After The Wedding - all 3 start Mads Mikkelsen (pronounced Mass Mikkelsen).

This is a great movie.It is the story of a guy who is lost. He is a bon vivant, enjoys women, American cars, bicycles, but with little money. He is a talented story teller and writer, but refuses to go for it. His marriage failed, he loves his daughter but has lousy jobs and hardly any money to survive, let alone to send to his ex for the daughter's expenses. He is a lonely bike rider which reflects his difficult to deal with relationships, including with a girl he likes and who really likes him. He has a real friend though who helps and supports him when the tragedy occurs. He looses a leg in an accident and has to deal with recovery. And has to deal with to find himself too.
Great movie. The rhythim is a bit bad, Bergman would have done better for sure, but it is a complex movie. Worth watching.
And talking about German movies, a fantastic one is The Life of the Others (Das Leben der Anderen). Actually, I am going to watch it again right now ;-)
