How good is it?

Well?

Whats the overall tone of this film. Is it goofy asia comedy or is it a serious (Drama, Action Adventure??what?). Someone on here said it was hilarious.

Hoenstly, the quote on the box pretty much sums it up the best: Like Sherlock Holmes and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon combined.

It has a bit of everything in it; great "wire-fu" action, an interesting mystery, funny moments. Its not extremely deep or anything and the cgi isnt always the best, but I definately had fun watching it.

I found it to be an Action-Drama-Adventure that is mystifing, entertaing, and a fantastic movie. That I would watch again, and it caught me on the edge of my seat.

I thought it was pretty awesome. It's on the darker side more than the goofy side.

I liked it! Did think early on there was too much wire work, but you get over it.

As it has already been said, it's on the dark-action side more than the goofy-silly side. The comparison with Sherlock Holmes and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is spot-on.
Cinematography, photography, coreography are all great, the story is quirky and fairly interesting, and the acting is above average. Unfortunately, it is too dragged-on, and lacks of character development.
Overall, Detective Dee is not as ridiculous, stupid, or humourous as other movies of the genre, and definitely worth it for any fan of martial arts and Asian flicks.

🐺 Boycott movies that involve real animal violence (& their directors) 🐾
