Good movie but the excessive flying kung-fu ruined this film.

I like the movie overall, the story to me was very original and I was glad to see something so different. I felt like Detective Dee was like a mix of Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter solving mysteries, but to me the imaginary kung-fu ruined the film a bit, there was too much of it o the point of looking silly.

Excessive flying kung-fu never ruined anything! :) Shakespeare would have added it to all his plays if he'd known about it.

Obviously, you must not watch a lot of Asian fantasy films---that is the norm in films like these---nothing silly about it--that's what makes them so much damn fun to watch,lol. I really liked this flick too---knew it was going to be good because it was a Tsui Hark (the director/producer) film
