Being a gentle carnivore + liking animals' well-being

At about 32 minutes, soon after that hot chick picked up the prof in her truck, she saw the alien technology thing-a-ma-jig & thought it was a gun. She was disgusted at the idea of hunting animals & said that meat can easily be bought at the grocery.
Did any of you notice that?
That was some hilarious, purposeful hypocrisy.
The script writers slipped in some good contradiction -- practiced by many humans.
