CGI in opening ruins the effect

If the intent was to pay hommage to 50s SF films AND to pass it off as a 'found footage' movie that actually was shot in the 1950s, the use of obvious CGI in the opening spoils the movie before it can build any momentum. It should have been model work.

Plus, as others have noted, the 'hommage' veers into tongue in cheek parody quite often. Director Goodwin talks about how much he "loves" 50s sci-fi films, but, in interviews he comes off as "I'm better, hipper and smarter than those 50s filmmakers." That also ruins the effect he was going after.

STRANGE INVADERS and INVASION (aka Top of the Food Chain) do this sort of thing much much better.
