Ella was not ...

The child used at the end who played Ella was not the right age for the time period they said between the time of birth and the time Karen found out she had died "more than a year" earlier. Unless they meant "more than a few years."

I had an issue with that too. In fact in the credits it says "Ella age 2". Based on the title that said "one year later" and what Karen told her husband after she read the letter, I expected Ella to be close to 1.

I caught that too. My son is 2 and she was developmentally and physically closer to his age.

I was like - that kid is running around! It was a bit of a surprise but, such an emotional moment so I didn't dwell on it.

I hadn't thought about that until you mentioned it, but Karen could have waited between finding out her daughter was dead and deciding to try to find Ella.

I know I'm replying to an old post, but I don't think Karen would have waited a day to get started looking for the baby. She was hungry for a connection to Elizabeth, and this was the only one she had. They definitely screwed up by using an older child.

People are assuming that the baby was placed for adoption at birth but she wasn't. Remember....the nun from the adoption agency told Karen that they did everything legally required, including posting a notice in local papers and online, before placing the baby in an adoptive home..which means baby Ella was likely in foster care (maybe a private foster home with the agency)for a period of time (one month? three months? who knows)That doesn't include the time that the baby was in the hospital before everyone figured out what the plan was going to be for this child (maybe at least a week...could have been longer depending on red tape.) No, she was probably not supposed to be "2 yrs old" but I think 15-18 months old would be accurate and that little girl could easily pass for a young toddler.
