Nothing like being the "new" ninja scroll. If you wanted to claim something as being that you would best off saying Basilisk. This movie was more in vein of Lone Wolf and Cub.

shareI'd have to agree. Ninja Scroll was phenomenal, but this seems more refined, objectively speaking. It seemed more like a jidaigeki in a modern anime form than Ninja Scroll, which was, again, as objectively as possible, somewhat excessive with its characterizations and violence. Ninja Scroll was a fantastic and important anime film. Sword of the Stranger is a great film in general conveyed with anime flair.

I loved both they both very entertaining. No Name reminded me a lot of Jubie from Ninja Scroll they so a like.
shareIt was too different from Ninja Scroll to me to be a comparison. It'd be like comparing Clash of the Titans and Troy. They take place in the same land and all, but one is sort of sci fi/fantasy where the other takes place in a more realistic world.
