Beautiful movie about Taiwan

Ever since I saw this film last year at the Montreal Film Festival, I have been following it's progress. I see that the film is now about to show in Taiwan. As someone who is not Taiwanese, before I saw the film I knew little to nothing about the country or it's struggles - only what I vaguely remember from history books. After seeing the film, I felt the urge to learn more about Taiwan and now I see how brave and courageous the filmmakers were to make this movie.

I recently bought the DVD when it came out in Canada, and it's even better than I remember. I know that some people may not want this history told, but we too here have stories that we would rather forget. I think what the filmmakers have done with this film is remind us how politics can affect all of us on an individual level, and to get involved so others don't decide for you.
