Really enjoyable fantasy action flick

A lot of people on the IMDb seem not to like this film, but I went to see it on a whim last night and had a really good time. Actually, it was some of the most fun I've had in the theatres since Pirates of the Carribean 2 and Troy.

It was short and fast paced. The action scenes, of which there are a lot, are just as long as they should be, never dragging on. The action was clear, well-directed and the visual effects were just brilliant. The creatures are just woah.

In the first scene you see Jeff Bridges in, you're like what the heck is he doing here? But after getting used to his accent, you start to like it and his role in this bloody brilliant. He worked that mentor-warrior angle so well, I started to wish he would be my mentor. The rest of the cast do their job well, making you care for the story and for the fantasy world it's set in.

There are twists and turns, all sorts of cool beasts, great cinematography, music and a simple story to boot. In a word, it's a lot of fun. People, this is what cinema is about. 7/10
