Don't get the low rating...

The movie was exactly as you expect it to be. Fantasy, action movie. In that aspect it more then delivered imo. I enjoyed watching it very much.

Is it a movie to remember? Not really. But certainly worth the watch. So I really don't get how it gets a 5.3 rating? Definitely at least a 7 in my book.

Would love your opinion on it.

Yeah the rating is way to low. The movie wasn't amazing but it pretty darn entertaining. So yeah, it doesn't deserve that kind of rating.

I think members are getting a little too crotchety and a little too picky with some of these ratings. The movie is as advertised with a better than average blend of action and fantasy. The 5.5 rating was brutally low. Additional positives were such things as creativity with respect to special effects, photography, and pace. Since I had no prior knowledge of the storyline, the movie established the plot which was easy to follow. I thought the casting was good (considering that casting in most movies could probably always be better). Jeff Bridges made the role his own as would any established, older male lead; and the other characters did their jobs (which wasn’t that easy considering the script). The movie had a certain panache that pushed it to the 7.0 level. The bad stuff wasn’t that bad. It was illogical that Alice and Tom didn’t have more powers! It became annoying. Also, the movie needed to make it more clear that Master Gregory had superhuman powers rather than having him survive having the snot beat out of his old body demonstrate the fact. Otherwise, the movie was entertaining.

Saw this movie today, yes, it's not that bad, I gave it 7/10.

Agree, this movie is 1:1 to what you expect it to be, a light Fantasy, Action, fairy tale... drakes, witches, castles, fights the lot...suitable for youngsters as well.

You wont buy it on BD for your collection, nor you'll remember it for long, but its honest, with no super-dumb moments.

This is IMDB, if a movie isnt super-dumb isnt getting a score greater than 6.

I really do not get the low rating as well because I thought it was nice/okey and exactly an enjoyable popcorn flick. Not rememberable but certainly okeyish to kill some time with if you are into fantasy stuff.

" I thought it was nice/okey and exactly an enjoyable popcorn flick. Not rememberable but certainly okeyish to kill some time with if you are into fantasy stuff." .....Isn't that a description of a movie that is rated 5.4 ? Certainly not enough for anything much more, especially if it is not "rememberable".....LMAO ....Got Spell-check ?

I'm into fantasy and I thought this was a good fantasy film, not spectacular but enjoyable. And I did read the books this was based on but I don't want to compare them because the film doesn't really follow them.

I understand there's a novel the screenplay is built on? Maybe some folks who enjoyed the books didn't the movie. I think it was decent enough. The cast's perfomance was great even though the screenplay didn't give them much to show off, and so was fx.
Nonetheless 'Seventh Son' seemed a bit bleak. I felt like I was watching an episode in the midst of a television series. If you want to do an epic fantasy flick as a director/ screenwriter you should dare weave a solid substructure into your story. For me as someone who didn't read the book the movie left open a lot of whys and wheres.
It's a problem many movies have these days. If you cut out the fights and explosions you'd get maybe twenty minutes of screentime — which isn't enough to create immersion.

As bad as Maleficent, but costs less i think so maybe its only saving grace
