Excellent Movie

I got really wrapped up in Tony's life, so I was a bit miffed when it ended suddenly. Way to go killing the TV license fascist! Reminded me of Henry Portrait of a serial killer, in its mood.

I keep meaning to see Henry, must do soon

I think the ending mirrored the beginning, but I understand how you think it's abrupt as it doesn't really have a proper climax. I agree about the TV license man.

Haven't seen Henry - sounds good.

Don't get me wrong, "Tony" as a movie is a great piece of cinema, but it's nowhere near "Henry: Portrait..." Storyline wise for one, Henry kills out of sheer perverse enjoyment. His kills are mostly random and they feed his cravings. Tony kills people who cross his path and which he deems dispensable. He even manages to pull in some humor in there. (The Rambo quote after he killed Smudge, anyone?) Henry is an absolute social outcast who despises friendships (apart from the one with his flatmate and partner-in-psychic-insanity Otis.) as where Tony seeks out friendships. Some might argue that Tony is out for some easy prey, but I believe that he genuinly wants social interaction. This is clearly seen (imho) when Mackey 'escapes' and Tony opens the door for him. When Tony says 'See you later', he had an expression on his face like he really was expecting/wanting him to come back at some other point to do some more smack with him.

But just for reference, this movie was a total surprise for me. Excellent cast, great photography, very fitting musical score and a 'real' storyline. Not a 'movie' storyline with a start, middle and end/closure. I voted 8/10 for this movie and await the movie to drop retail here in Belgium. To everyone involved in this movie; kudos!
... And to fantasyescapist; if you liked this movie, you'll find Henry either VERY disturbing, or fantastic. I thought it was brilliant. Rent it asap. :)

I enjoyed this movie but was dissappointed it didn't have an end as such..

I just watched the DVD after seeing this last Summer at EIFF. I think I enjoyed it even more the second time, it's just so well acted - Ferdinando just IS Tony, and the supporting cast are all great too. The mood and atmosphere are terrific and it's really beautifully shot.

I wish it was longer too, but I guess the end montage was a kind of wrap-up. I like that Tony probably didn't stop killing, but that the episode of his life involving the missing child was over, that the film acts more as a snippet of his life.

I'd love a sequel.

Agreed - Nice hidden gem.

Agreed. This film was quite chillingly effective in its stark simplicity.

Spot-On man! First thing calmed to mind was Henry : Portrait of a Serial Killer but with better acting, from the main character at least. And I thought the guy who played Henry (mind fart..been in tons of films ) was really good, but this guy was awesome.

Never really got the Henry comparison. This, for me, is more of a comedy, whereas Henry is anything but
