was stupid

I watched this on tv but missed the first five mins and always assumed I had missed some information. However after watching it back on 4 on demand I realised that I didnt really miss anything and it looks like the show was edited leaving plot holes or parts of the story unexplained. Firstly there is a scene near the end when Shanice speaks to the murdered boys mother and claims she was trying to chat him up and thats why her boyfriend went after him, this do not actually happen. Secondly I am more than 100per cent sure that dwayne and Shanice were meant to be related in some way, more than likely half siblings sharing the same watless father, but again any reference to this was probably edited out so the programme could focus more on the gun crime aspect. I would appriciate it if anyone could confirm or deny this for me.

Finally the actress who played Shanice, couldn't really play the character realistically. Yeah she was pretty but looking at her profile on her I see she was brought up in somerset in a middle class environment. Im sure shes a good actress but the role they gave to her needed more realism, an as such she came across as a 'wannabe rude gal'. It would have been a lot better if they would have used Lenora Crichlow or maybe just had Shanice be protayed as a good girl who mixes with the wrong crowd. In fact the whole thing suffered alot due to underdeveloped characters and could have been so much stronger, although I get the feeling that a lot of scenes where cut so the anti gun/knife message would come across a lot stronger, so I cant really blame the makers if this is the case.
