Older Rhaenyra is better actress then younger

I thought it would be otherwise But I was not annoyed by actress.

Emma D'Arcy actually had real human emotions. I felt her scare and entrapment. Thats what acting is. While Milly Alcock is just wooden and stone faced. Because Milly Alcock cant move her face to show those emotions. Because not everyone can be actor. You have to work your face to get them. Milly Alcock was miscast.

Her husband, Older Laenor Velaryon is better too. Young one was very pretty but cant act too. And was just as wooden as Millie. Prior to this series he had only one acting gig. I wont be surprised if there was some nepotism and he got that role for being someone relative. While older Laenor Velaryon has up to 50 acting gigs in his career.

Alicent Hightower is such non-character that I cant even judge who was better actress. Bother were mediocre. Well Olivia Cooke at least tried to show anger and superiority. But failed and looked cheap. Im trully surprised that that older Rhaenyra was so afraid of her that she went to see her on her demand after giving birth. Nothing in Alicent behavior showed that Rhaenyra could be in trouble by refusing and resting. It was pointless scene. Alicent is as scared to lose power as Rhaenyra.

I disagree - I thought they are both good actresses. The only gripe I have is how insanely different they look. Young Alicent actually resembles the older Alicent. Young Rhaenyra looks absolutely nothing like old Rhaenyra

I'm not so much worried about the acting, I'm more worried about the "look". The new actors don't look like they're in their 20s. They look late 30s early 40s.

Sure, having kids can age you but I don't think they would look this old. They were teenagers in the previous episode and now they look a little beat up and worn out.

Looks played a pretty big role in Game Of Thrones too. In this regards, they were all a perfect match for the role they played. At this point, I am not real satisfied with the looks of any of them, although Milly had a very regal look to her. Like her or hate her, she was the star of the show.

Completely disagree. She seems completely off, constant F bombs and her face is unbearable.
Young Rhaenyra had this Down-syndrome touch, but was still pleasant to watch.

Old Rhaenyra only has the role because she ticks a box they couldn't tick before. "Non-binary". Lol.

“constant F bombs”

Yeah what was up with that? Felt out of place.

Guess that's part of being a strong and independent women... just like dragging yourself through a castle right after giving birth while bleeding gallons...

Don't you get it?`She's like... strong and stuff.

PS: Men suck!

Ugh... I hate modern TV.

lol, you're so sensitive, grandpa

LOL! It’s amazing isn’t it? No matter what the show/story & no matter where it takes place, Middle Earth, Westeros, in space, no matter what the age, everyone knows the word “f*ck”. Actually amazing when you think about it.

reply

Yeah, I found Milly to be a bit flat. She doesn't have the ability to show a lot with a little thru her facial expressions. But I disagree on younger Alicent. She has exactly what Milly is devoid of.

And I didn't see it as a pointless scene. It was ruined by the scenes that followed, but I understood exactly was being conveyed as far as power dynamics.

I'll have to give Emma D'Arcy more time before really judging, but so far I have the impression that Milly Alcock is a more charismatic version of Rhaenyra. I actually liked her as a character although I assumed that I wouldn't like her much. She seemed to have good chemistry with Matt Smith/Daemon too (and not just in a creepy romantic way).

reply

I’d rather see a cute young bad actress than an older unattractive one.

reply

Yes.
I expected to hate D'Arcy because of the gender nonsense but she/they/it is giving a great and subtle performance. I haven't read the book but I know more or less what happens and I believe D'Arcy will shine in the coming seasons.

Completely disagree!!! Milly was attractive, captivating, and had a energetic vibe about her. Her and Matt Smith are the only ones that bring a uniqueness and humanity to their roles. The rest of the cast is complete borefest.

The new Rhaenyra doesn't even try to match her predecessor's mannerisms.

And now the show has lost half the reason to watch. Good job showrunners. If I were you I would lean heavy into Matt Smith if you want any longevity to your show.
