Anachronistic Music?

Im been bingewatching (currently on season 2) and it seems the music doesnt fit the period in which the series is set? Im not familiar with the music- seems to be Australian bands and they all sound alike so can anybody shed some light on this?

I found a couple of tracks from season two on a compilation titled Australian Nuggets. Garage rock, late sixties so not necessarily anachronistic.
I enjoyed the season two soundtrack. Couldn't watch Golden mile or the one set in the thirties.
