The big plot hole in this type of movie

In this, The Hills Have Eyes, Texas Chainsaw, etc., the evil horde seems to pay a pretty serious price every time they capture a small group. In almost every case, they take a hit of one, or even two family losses per attack. It just isn't sustainable. The one good thing about House of 1000 Corpses was that the sequel showed it really wasn't sustainable.

You'd have a point if there weren't untold numbers of these deformed freaks putting up the attacks, which they have shown in both Hills Have Eyes and this movie. Pretty much every other movie like this where it is quite clear there are more than five to ten of them doing it, not God knows how many like this movie and HHE and many others.

But I think horror movies usually show when victims of the "evil horde" actually manages to fight back. Even if they don't win in the end.

Did you even watch the movie? There isn't just one family, it's pretty much a whole town of these things, certainly big enough to take a few casualties. In addition, there's no reason to think that they always lose people every time they attack someone. Most of their victims would likely be killed without getting a chance to fight back.
