A Matter of Life and Death isn't just a name of an album it's also a well know old phrase

It's also the title of one of THE classic British movies. Given Park's fondness for classic movie references I tend to think this was the inspiration.

I actually prefer the working title though - Trouble At' Mill. It's even more particularly British (perhaps why they didn't use it) as in Yorkshire dialect, particularly in the industrial past, the word "the" was replaced by a muted "t" e.g. "Going down't pub"

I like Trouble At' Mill too, though I think they thought it was too chiefly Northern

Fry doesn't have beer goggles. He has Madeira Pince-nez

"Trouble At' Mill" is also Graham Chapman's first line in the Spanish Inquisition sketch.
