the Madrid finale was a trainwreck

there were two scenes back-to-back where the guys sat around talking on and on and on with no actual point to the conversation. in the second one, the two dudes were eating their "hangover cure" which went on what seemed like forever while we watched them eat multiple courses of some unappetizing looking food, but the focus was on their dull banter more than the food and it seemed like there was zero editing, we had to watch them eat everything in real time making yuppie small talk. then the show wrapped with a z-grade iron chef contest which consumed half the show and kept the cast confined to a kitchen that could have been anywhere in the world instead of focussing on Spain, and was entirely about their unamusing attempts to act cute while half-assedly cooking.

what a mess.

..and who, specifically, do we blame?

producer, director, editor, actors?

I agree with you, but which takes most of the blame?

reply

All of them, but I'd mostly lay it in the producer's lap. Certainly Batali has enough pull, however, to say "What the f* was that??" and get it corrected. It was like they were killing time, waiting for the lunch bell.

Welcome to "Being Mario."

Claudia was wearing a nice outfit at that one club they went to.
