Santana?

In the last episode, was the ship's pilot with the plague Santos Santana, or just some other guy? I thought it was just another guy, but someone told me it was Santana.

reply

I guess I don't know for certain, but I thought it was just some other guy. Santanna drew them the map to find the island, so if he was the pilot why the need for the map. He didn't appear in any condition in London to be going on any long voyages.

Intially they never showed the pilot, they kept saying he was drunk in his cabin, so I thought it was a big build up to a surprise person, maybe Olivia. But it was just because the pilot had the black spots or whatever it was called. So I think it was a nobody.

Thanks old-dutch. Yeah, I agree with you then that it was just some guy. Perhaps the pilot is the only one who was able to really interpret and navigate Santana's map amd whatever maps they had to get back to England.

reply

It was some other guy. The end credits listed another actor's name.

Actually, wasn't Santana left on the island. I recall Crusoe knocking him out, and using Santana's hat and coat to disguise himself rowing out to the ship.

reply

that wasn't santana that was mr.tuffleys friend

reply

Yeah - Santana left the island with Friday's father. At the time it appeared that he may have died from his head wounds but as later shown in a real time London scene, he lived.

I must not who Mr. Tuffley's friend is. I thought that Crusoe feed him to the meat eating fish in order to cross the river. I also don't recall him wearing that big goofy hat.

reply

Crusoe just took the coat and hat off one of the sailors, it showed the dead bodies on the beach while Crusoe and Mr Tuffley were rowing back to the ship.

reply

Friday followed Blackthorne.

Crusoe was on the other side of the river with his brother-in-law Tuffley and his associate. Crusoe killed the associate in the sword fight, but spared Tuffley. In order to cross the river, Crusoe tossed the dead body in the river to attract the piranha. He kept the over coat to disguise himself as he rowed the boat to the ship with Tuffley in the bow.

Unfortunately, Santana did not appear in the final episode. He was injured during the fight with the cannibals in Episode 6 (Lone Pig) and then what looked like a Stroke at the end of the Episode when he & Friday's father we leaving the Island. Episode 10 (Smoke & Mirrors) he had recovered, but he states he has a affliction, paralysis. However, he was trying to help Crusoe get back to his wife & children.

It wasn't piranha in the river it was a very large and mean Alligator.

reply

I need to make a correction. The last episode Santana was seen in was actually Episode 12, (The Hunting Party). This is where he speaks of his "affliction"

Actually, I feel I must point out that you are almost all wrong. I think we need to practice our movie comprehension just a little bit more.
-It is not Santana in the cabin, Santana is afflicted with paralysis and thus the reason he has not attempted to rescue Crusoe on his own.
-Santana didn't exactly draw a map. It is the map taken and tanned from the pirate's back, thus the comments : "Is this leather?" "Don't ask", and that Crusoe "knew" the "owner" of the map.
-Crusoe did not steal the jacket and hat from Tuffley's companion, but instead took it off the boatswains or bosuns he killed(as mention "the bos'ns have found mister tuffley"). The bosuns can be seen dead on the beach behind the rocks.
-And last but not least, it is indeed piranhas not the giant alligator. Not only does Crusoe say it's piranhas several times, and alligator would have easily dismantled the raft and its passengers. Plus alligators grab prey and roll to tear it into pieces it can swallow, so we would have seen the gator roll up out of the water, not simply bubble.

Oh, and alligators aren't truly mean. They just eat to survived, as do we. Think about that the next time you grab a burger or eat a salad. Everything tries to survive. And I love steak and salad both!

And I think you need to Actully watch the show.

Because I know you didn't if You can't tell the difference between an Big Alligator and Piranha.
