Showing in the UK?

Everyone who's been watching the show on this board seems to be from America. My question: anyone from the UK know if this has been or will be shown on UK TV? And if so, when?!

reply

I've seen 1.5 episodes on Arabic TV. I hope its shown on UK TV - I don't see why my fellow Brits shouldn't suffer too.

The word 'dire' would be kind.

Poor story - so appalling that it would be impossible to find anybody who could give a creditable acting performance.

The only similarity with Defoe's book are the names of the two principal characters. In the series he becomes a rebel against the Crown (rather than involved in the slave trade); swindled out of fortune (with swindler appearing on the island!).

He's been on the island for 6 years; it's perhaps fortunate that people turn up on the island every week at this time as it would have interrupted his substantial D.I.Y. skills and the education/elocution lessons for Friday if they appeared earlier.

I must commend Crusoe's self-restraint - after 6 years he got within a couple of inches of mixing spit with a cabin-boy (he'd removed his 'beard' on meeting Crusoe and amazingly became a young woman (Oliver/Olivia - clever, huh) who incredibly manages to find a herbal remedy when Friday becomes psychotic; (only specimen halfway down cliff, of course, leading to the novel idea of a rope breaking).

I wonder if he'd show the same discipline if he knew he would be there for a further 22 years before getting back to his wife & kids (another 'improvement' on the classic novel)?

I found that my disdain of professional critics lessened when I heard that it was voted by them as amongst the '5 worst TV series".

It returned when I found it only came in at 5.

Someone here asked if it was worse than CSI:Miami. I would need to have my eyelids stapled open to watch another episode of either. For Crusoe, I'd need to have my arms tied down to stop me from plucking out my eyeballs.
