Crop circles

Crop circles were once explained on a TV special. Basically, a small group of people figured out how to fold crops a certain way. With practice they were able to create elaborate patterns in just minutes.

I remember watching something like that. But then again, I believe that there actually are some outstanding ones yet to be explained. Not entirely sure on that though.

reply

I spend a lot of time aloft flying around on airplanes and I have yet to see a crop circle in a remote place.
I don't believe they are natural or ETI formations.

reply

All of the so-called unexplained phenomena they mentioned have either been fully explained or have had plausible rational/scientific theories advanced to explain them.

For example, I saw a special on the Bermuda Triangle which demonstrated how the Air Force pilots could have easily wandered off course and thought it was due to a compass malfunction. It also demonstrated how methane emissions from the sea floor would account for virtually all ship and airplane disappearances in the area.

The simple "true" crop circles can be explained by meteorological phenomena. The more advanced designs are man-made, intricately plotted and planned well in advance. Circular designs are amazingly simple to create (often involving nothing more than a stick, a rope, and a plank). Angular designs are trickier, but well within the abilities of the average person.

I think the real phenomenon was Stonehenge
Along with ancient Egyptian pyramids
The show Digging for the Truth has explored both of these. And while that show is not know for its historical accuracy, they did a pretty good job of showing how primitive people could have created them (but I still can't imagine the motivation!).
And don't they both line up with something about the sun?
Stonehenge lines up with the Equinox. I think some people have thought the pyramids had solar/celestial significance but that has since been debunked (could be wrong about that, though).

Slavery. For the latter at least.

And as far as crop circles go... if they appeared in Signs then I'm sure they were handmade... unless that was CGI. Or the Aliens have a guild.

Slavery is a method, not a motivation. (The rulers made the decisions; the slaves just did what they were told.) Actually, for the pyramids, glory was most likely the motivation. Why else would a ruler go to that level of expense? But Stonehenge is an enigma.

reply

Well, I didn't really mean that they were motivated because they were slaves. Just saying that slavery is the main reason as to why those pyramids were built.

And yes, it was about glory on the Pharaoh's behalf. They were tombs, and they took that life after death stuff very seriously. But you know that, I'm sure.
