Uri Geller Allegedly Exposed

James Randi has some very interesting views about Uri Geller. Obviously it is best for everyone to make up their own opinions.

False beliefs can be dangerous. Look at Christianity.

Uri is a big fraud.

reply

Accordingly, so could false dis-beliefs.

In my opinion, Uri's tired tricks do not warrant comparison with any religion.

reply

There's a lot of talk against Randi. His obsession made him famous but most of his bebunking was bull.

Too much, too soon, too long, too strong, too many,

reply

Yes, like disbelieving evolution. Any time faith stands in the way of accepting truth, that's dangerous. I think Uri's tricks ARE related to religion, because by making the claims he does he promotes uncritical thinking that plays out in other areas of life.

reply

Uri's been exposed countless times, but a lot of people would rather have something to believe in than the truth. Seriously, every time Uri gets exposed he just waits for it to blow over and brings out his old bag of tricks again.

reply

Well, since most religions is about being a better person, at least the large ones, being better to your common man. I really don't see how beleiving in something that motivate you to treat people better could be bad. Of course there is some corupted versions of religions out there.

reply

Yes, the large ones are, in fact, the most dangerous.
See, they really like their "values", and are so prejudiced against anything that's different, they'll kill if they have to.

I'm in love with an Indian girl. She's not "Indian" per se, her parents either. But they were taught in the good old Hindu ways. What do these say? "Be a good person, love with all you heart. Show your kids the way to grow, and if they try to go a different path, make sure they see your point of view, by any means necessary". What happens? Dad spanks girl cause the Hindu "community" doesn't look kindly on Indian girls falling in love with non-Indians.

How about my feverishly Christian neighbour? She's a lovely girl, alright. Said she wouldn't want to live without God. So I asked her, "What about your husband? And don't you want to start a family with him? Your family?"... Oh no, God's above all that. She said she'd rather kill herself, if she knew God didn't exist... but before that she'd go to Africa and "bring with her" those poor African kids who are suffering "for nothing".

Of course, no point in talking about the sh*t the Catholic Church made through the "Dark Age", right? We all know what happened then. Same with the mulsims. Good people doing bad things over a silly "who's got the bigger penis... I mean, God" contest.

That's all we get out of religion. Good words, terrible people. I don't need anyone to tell me what to do with my life. I don't need anyone to tell me to be kind to other people. I already know I should be.

My wish? Get the world rid of all religions by 2104. That'd be a dream come true :)

Finally, do you really belive in terrorism as our "leaders" say it is? I can picture Osama in my mind already...

"Infidels! You are free, and we are not! You look at us and think we're uncivilized! I KILL YOU!"
right...

Keep fighting over beliefs, cultures, races, and all that sh*t. Meanwhile, our world belongs more and more to those who care about nothing but themselves, hiding in the shade of religion... or a noble purpose.

reply

Uri Gellar had nothing to do with religion. Most religions frown on the belief in pyschic abilities.

Uri actually claimed that his powers came from aliens.
Did he really need Randi.
Randi never debunked anything. He just proved that he could use tricks to roughly duplicate Uri's 'feats'.

Without religion, what do we get? Good words, terrible people.
The fault isn't in religion, but in people's self-interest.

The world is in a financial collapse because people cared about nothing but themselves, for short term profits, knowing it would bankrupt the world. Some people became very rich knowing the rest of us would suffer later.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Do you believe that their conflict is about freedom as we see it? Are you brainwashed by the western propaganda into believing that they are jeleous of are freedom? For them it's not an issue one way or another. Terrorists see the US as a threat to their self-interest which includes the interests of their families.

This world is on the brink of destruction, because people care about nothing but themselves, in spite of religion... with no noble purpose.

That's what we need to do? Get rid of the people who have a noble purpose?
What a dream... a world filled with nothing but animals.
