so he's talking about download one's self...

well he provides evidence for processor speeds and video gaming improving exponentially but what gives him indication we will be able to extrapolate the complex thoughts and memories of people into machines? I watch a lot of science shows and I have seen how well we can connect machines and work machines with our minds but there is nothing out there even close to downloading thoughts.

We don't have anything that can download copy, save then process thoughts and feelings, I don't think he understands the complexities of neurons and dendrites and how nervous cells work. It really isn't something a machines can copy at least not for a long while.

LOL unless he considers writing down our thoughts and feelings into MS Word as a way of copying ones self?

Ha MS word is a good start.

But I think if you program a machine to recognize human emotion it could develop thoughts and opinions about the person its communicating with over a period of time.

People in general dislike uncertainty so we attempt to make sense of our reality by forming attitudes and thoughts. It's just a instinctual mechanism humans have. If machines have the same mentality it could try to predict your behavior which would mean it's making conclusions that may be wrong much like people can be wrong based on its perception of the person. Then the computer would learn to not always trust its perceptions and make less mistakes as it gains experience with people. Like a child the computer wouldn't be very eliquint at the beginning of its life but slowly it would gain tact, wisdom, and grace. It would learn what is socially acceptable in our culture and abide by commonly held beliefs. It could even experience culture shock.

Once scientists figure out how the human brain works there is no reason why it couldn't be copied and given to a machine with greater processing power than the human brain. It would be a breeze for a computer. It would sorta be like running dos on a super computer.

These are some movies of mine. Enjoy!

We have complex machines able to interpret our sensory impulses and basically to detect what we are thinking. It isn't very powerful...yet. Eventually the technology will improve to the point that we can understands detailed thoughts of people and simply record these. We already have an abundance of recording devices.
