...for the sake of a lame ass joke? I'm not a huge tree hugger or anything, but these ignorant douche bags couldn't, I don't know, just jump off the tree? No, instead, "We'll kill this creature that has been here longer than I have."

Maybe the tree was scheduled for felling anyway, so they took the opportunity to be the ones to do it. Makes sense to me.

I second this. Who cares?! I live in the countryside.... Trees are everywhere. They are a renewable resource. I have several axes and chainsaws. Cutting one down is not a big deal.

If the tree feels raw about it, it can make an appeal or write it's congressman.
