lame plot holes but got to love kevin james

this is good netflix material (what we did) i wouldnt buy this but its a good netflix.
there are some plot points that REALLY irritated me and though was real lame but i loved the action sequences and most of the comedy
1: the phone was the biggest thing....im sorry, i know plans are a joke but you can go buy a prepaid phone for as little as 10 bucks. not having a phone? maybe i can see but not being able to buy one (a cheap one) no. and who gives a aqqantaince their phone...idk...just bugs me

2: his daughter. who goes to bring their dad lunch AT NIGHT IN THE DARK? espcecially since they made it look like they went home to after closeing SO WHY IS SHE THERE . and HOW DID SHE MISS THE COPS OUTSIDE.

and there was other stuff but i cant remember it. and stuff i didn't get (was the swat guy in on it?)

but kevin was great its ok movie im just anal analytical.

The worst day is the one in which we have not laughed.

I'm not sure how she missed all of the cops outside. Were they covering EVERY entrance/exit?
I believe that he did miss lunch that day.
I've only just watched the movie, and it was just the one time. I didn't take notes, so I'm not sure about why the daughter brought him his lunch so late.

Yes, the SWAT guy was in on it.

I think the reason for the friend "giving" him the daughters phone is becase if he bought one he would have to charge it for several hours so it would not have been useable at the time of the robbery. as for the daughter bringing lunch IDK? The mall was apparently closing soon so I am not sure why she wuld be there at all.

Dude, it is clear that they wanted the daughter there so the film can have that family element to it (hero dad saving the day). How they daughter ended up there seemed to be forced and illogical, but I don't really care :). It's a funny movie I really enjoyed it. It's one of those movies where I knew what to expect and it delivered. Take it for what it is :)

I think the things you mention are a bit of a stretch, but work well to advance the story along.

I felt bad for him when he was checking that dating site and had no matches. I've been there, and know how it feels.

reply

Yep, I have been there myself. I think Keven James pulled off the character very well. He was funny but you could feel for him.

The name is Stephen and I'm male.

It may be hard to believe, but until 3 months ago, I also chose not to have a cell phone because of the cost. Not that $50/month would break me, but because I knew I'd use it so infrequently that the $/minute would be prohibitive. So, I found Paul's wincing at the price of the 'network' phone pretty realistic.

( I did finally get a pre-paid plan with a used phone, and find that I'm going about 25 minutes/month. )

Yes he did a very good job unlike the people who wrote the movie

Believe it or not there are plenty of people who don't have cell phones. The majority of the ones I've met have been middle-aged to older people who for whatever reason never learned to use one and didn't see a need to own one in the first place, kind of like people who don't know how to use the computer. I was under the impression the phone salesman let Paul borrow/use his daughter's phone because it was his way of letting Paul try it out free of charge, like a test drive so-to-speak, to see if he really liked it enough to want to commit to buying one of his own eventually. Plus they seemed to be friends and as he pointed out, his daughter was being punished by taking the phone away from her, so he just had it laying around anyway, already activated/charged & ready to use... bling and all, lol

The thing about the phone that bugged me was how proficient he was with it.. I've had a cell phone for years, but give me a different one and it takes me forever to figure it out.

kevin james can be funny, but this movie seemed so over the top corny that it became surreal, i didn't quite get this flick, and now i'm quite surprised there has just been a sequel made. i lost focus on it after a while, so maybe i've gotten the wrong idea about it.

lightning came striking down,
couldn't stand the ground,
prayed have mercy on my soul,
salvaged like rewind of it all,
lord i felt a weight off my shoulder,
as the sun raised over the mountain,
i continued on my miles,
a blessing on the journey as i was about to drift aside.
